World Youth Chess Championship Wrap-up

Russians, Indians and Americans shine bright at the 2012 WYCC

Results are in from the 2012 World Youth Chess Championships in Maribor, Slovenia.  There were 1587 juniors in 12 sections, including 5 GMs. There was a 21.6% draw rate, and White scored 53.87%.  Slovenia had the largest delegation, bringing 150 players, followed by Russia (106) and the USA (89).  Amazingly, none of the Slovenians managed to secure medals, while India and Russia managed to score the most overall medals (8) and gold medals (3) each.  In third place in overall federation medals, USA scored 4 medals, including 2 golds.
